COMPANHIA NACIONAL DE BAILADO – Dançar em tempo de guerra

Dançar em tempo de guerra é um programa que reúne duas obras de dois coreógrafos de referência do século XX, Martha Graham e Kurt Jooss. Chronicle e A Mesa Verde, ambas criadas na década de 30 do século passado, refletem as inquietações dos seus autores sobre a ideia de guerra. Se Jooss trabalha a partir dos efeitos da I Guerra Mundial, Graham relata as trágicas consequências sociais e humanas, reflexo do contexto da época. Depois de ter sido dançada a última vez na CNB, em 1987, A Mesa Verde regressa aos palcos juntamente com Chronicle, de Martha Graham, coreógrafa que passou a integrar o repertório da companhia com esta obra, em março de 2020. – Sofia Campos (Diretora Artistica)

Dançar em tempo de guerra [Dancing During Wartime] brings together two seminal pieces from two seminal choreographers from the 20th century: Martha Graham and Kurt Jooss. Chronicle and The Green Table, both created in the 1930s mirror the concerns of their authors on the idea of war. While Jooss works based on the consequences of World War I, Graham describes the tragic social and human implications that are a reflection of the circumstances of the time. The Green Table was last performed by the National Ballet of Portugal in 1987, and it now returns to the stage together with Chronicle, by Martha Graham, a choreographer who was added to the companys repertoire with this piece in March 2020. – Sofia Campos (Artistic Director)
