Na exposição Seirén: A Captura, a artista Ana Cristina Rocha apresenta a sua visão sobre as criaturas aquáticas que sempre povoaram o seu imaginário – desde as páginas dos livros de ficção até às narrativas históricas. Através da sua obra, somos levados a questionar a androginia e o mistério desses seres fantásticos, que continuam a fascinar até os mais céticos.

In a world increasingly immersed in reality and its shadows, fantasy has always served as a refuge for the human mind. Today, in a time of uncertainty, ancestral myths resurface with renewed intensity.
In the exhibition Seirén: The Capture, artist Ana Cristina Rocha presents her vision of the aquatic creatures that have long inhabited her imagination — from the pages of fiction books to historical narratives. Through her work, we are invited to question the androgyny and mystery of these fantastic beings, which continue to fascinate even the most skeptical.
Between reality and fiction, the artist builds a visual narrative that challenges the boundaries of the imaginary.
How far do we allow ourselves to dream? In the 21st century, does fantasy persist — or is it repressed by the frantic pace of our lives?
