Um retrato das transformações do quotidiano nos países de Leste, no qual a realizadora enceta uma viagem desde a fronteira da Alemanha à Rússia, e do fim do verão ao mais profundo inverno. Um road movie onde as imagens falam por si através de longos travellings hipnóticos. Edifícios, paisagens, neve e crepúsculos constituem um poema cativante onde os rostos anónimos parecem aguardar, com desânimo, o futuro. — D’est is a film-diary in which Chantal Akerman meditates on the state of Europe after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union’s collapse. A portrait of the transformations of everyday life in Eastern countries, in which the director embarks on a journey from the German border to Russia, and from the end of summer to the deepest winter. A road movie in which the images speak for themselves through long hypnotic travellings. Buildings, landscapes, snow and twilight make up a captivating poem in which anonymous faces seem to be despondently awaiting the future.
