Sinopse:
Part-Time Work of a Domestic Slave é o segundo filme de Alexander Kluge, seguindo Abschied von gestern (1966), e é estrelado por sua irmã, Alexandra. A trama acompanha Roswitha Bronski, uma enfermeira casada com o engenheiro químico Franz Bronski, que se vê em meio ao caos: crianças a gritar, um marido desagradável e desempregado, e tumultos numa fábrica que ameaça ser deslocalizada para Portugal. Para sustentar a família, Roswitha gerencia uma clínica de abortos ilegais, mas enfrenta uma nova crise quando os médicos começam a recusar o pagamento das taxas de encaminhamento, colocando-a numa posição extremamente desafiadora. Com isso, ela abandona sua passividade e embarca numa jornada para se redefinir como mãe, esposa e mulher trabalhadora em uma sociedade ameaçada por uma globalização precoce.

Synopsis:
Part-Time Work of a Domestic Slave is Alexander Kluge’s second film, following Abschied von gestern (1966), featuring his sister Alexandra. The story revolves around Roswitha Bronski, a nurse married to chemical engineer Franz Bronski, who navigates a chaotic world filled with screaming children, an unpleasant, unemployed husband, and riots at a factory threatened with relocation to Portugal. To support her family, Roswitha manages an illegal abortion clinic, but she faces a crisis when doctors begin to refuse to pay referral fees, placing her in an extremely challenging position. As a result, she abandons her passivity and embarks on a journey to redefine herself as a mother, wife, and working woman in a society threatened by early globalization.
