Da Amazônia brasileira para a capital de Portugal. Jhon Douglas (nasc.1988) é um artista autodidata que há mais de 10 anos materializa as suas inquietações e visões de mundo em diferentes suportes e artefatos criativos, em especial nas artes visuais, na música e na comunicação multimídia.
Lançou seu primeiro registro musical em 2019, com um EP intitulado MATO, e o primeiro álbum em estúdio do projeto “Jhon Douglas – JungleBoys & Maritacas”, com a presença de palco e a energia musical contagiante circulando pelas principais casas de show de Portugal.
Sitiado em Lisboa desde 2015, seu processo criativo mantém fortes referências amazônicas, estimulado pela natureza e pela simplicidade característica da cidade do interior. Tudo isso se reflete nos traços e tons vivos das telas que pinta, nas silhuetas das máscaras que esculpe, nas composições que canta e no seu próprio jeito de estar e interagir com o mundo.
Para além disso, uma de suas grandes habilidades se traduz pela leveza com que verbaliza suas críticas sociais, políticas e, digamos, tecnológicas. Seu jeito espontâneo e bem-humorado, ainda que bastante crítico, consegue atrair a atenção, despertar o riso e, ao mesmo tempo, provocar reflexões.

Beauty, provocation and meaning
From the Brazilian Amazon to the capital of Portugal. Jhon Douglas (born 1988) is a self-taught artist who for over 10 years has materialized his concerns and worldviews in different media and creative artifacts, especially in the visual arts, music and multimedia communication.
He released his first musical record in 2019, with an EP entitled MATO, and the first studio album of the project “Jhon Douglas – JungleBoys & Maritacas”, with stage presence and contagious musical energy circulating through the main venues in Portugal.
Based in Lisbon since 2015, its creative process maintains strong Amazonian references, stimulated by nature and the characteristic simplicity of the interior city. All this is reflected in the lines and vivid tones of the canvases he paints, in the silhouettes of the masks he sculpts, in the compositions he sings and in his own way of being and interacting with the world.
Furthermore, one of his great skills is reflected in the lightness with which he verbalizes his social, political and, shall we say, technological criticisms. His spontaneous and good-humored manner, although quite critical, manages to attract attention, arouse laughter and, at the same time, provoke reflections.
