Wanderers of the Desert, by Nacer Khemir
The first film in Khemir’s Desert Trilogy, Wanderers of the Desert follows a young teacher who arrives at a remote village, where the boundaries between reality and myth seem blurred. The villagers are obsessed with a mysterious buried treasure, and the children are cursed to wander the desert sands. As he interacts with those around him, the teacher embarks on an existential journey, discovering a world steeped in folklore and mysticism, where the desert becomes a metaphor for both life and the unknown.
